Recreation

Butler-center-outsideResidents of Butler Township love living here and can take advantage of many opportunities for recreation throughout the township. Whether it’s summer or winter, there’s always a chance to have a good time.

Valley East baseball, a Little League affiliate and Valley Regional Girls Softball, a USA Sofball affilaite are both based at Freedom Park in Drums. Golfers can try their swing at Sand Springs' 18-hole course, Edgewood's simulator and 9-hole course, or Sammy’s Family Golf mini golf and driving range. Axe-A-Holics can unleash your inner lumberjack to feel the rush of throwing axes with friends and family.  Relax and grab some ice cream at Sleepy Hollow Ice Cream on West Butler Drive or satisfy your need for speed at Evergreen Raceway in St. John's for thrilling races on a 1/3-mile oval track every weekend from April to October.

The landscape in Butler Township is dotted with farms, some of which have seasonal stands to sell their produce. Also, the Center for Landscape Design & Stewardship offers adult and youth education programs, professionally designed gardens for inspiration, demonstration and horticultural study, and community gardens for food production and hands-on study.

In addition to these opportunities, ski resorts, amusement parks and shopping malls are just a short drive away from Butler Township.
